Reinis Nitišs on the podium in FIA European Rally Championship round Rally Liepāja
This weekend, the Kurzeme region hosted a round of the FIA European Rally Championship, Rally Liepāja. There, Reinis Nitišs and Andris Mālnieks finished third in both ERC3 and ERC3 Junior classes.

Nikolay Gryazin fastest in round 3 of the Latvian Rally Championship
Along the FIA European Rally Championship, the Sunday stages of Rally Liepāja, taking place in Aizpute, Durbe, and Priekule regions, were also counted as the third round in the Latvian Rally Championship. Having completed six stages during the day, the overall classification was won by Nikolay Gryazin / Konstantin Aleksandrov (Hyundai i20 R5), followed by Jānis Vorobjovs / Ivo Pūķis (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX), and winner of round two, Raul Jeets / Andrus Toom (Škoda Fabia R5).

Oliver Solberg continues his domination of Rally Liepāja, three Latvian crews reach the podium
Today, the second round of the FIA European Rally Championship, Rally Liepāja, concluded with six stages in the Durbe, Aizpute, and Priekule regions. Oliver Solberg, who made history after winning last year’s event at just 17 years of age, won here for the second time in a row. He managed to increase his lead throughout the day, finishing the event 20.7 seconds ahead of Mads Ostberg and 37.2 seconds in front of Alexey Lukyanuk.

Latvian Rally Championship round 2 winners: Raul Jeets, Edijs Bergmanis, and Mārtiņš Sesks
In addition to the FIA European Rally Championsip, the Rally Liepāja stages on Talsi region roads also hosted round two of the Latvian Rally Championship. After four long special stages, Raul Jeets / Andrus Toom (Škoda Fabia R5) came out on top. In the overall classification, he was followed by Edijs Bergmanis / Edgars Grīns (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX), and Mārtiņš Sesks / Renārs Francis (Ford Fiesta Rally4). On Sunday, the Liepāja region stages will be used for round three of the Latvian Rally Championship.

After four stages in the Talsi region, Rally Liepāja leaders are separated by just 16 seconds
With four stages taking place in the Talsi region, today the battle for victory in Rally Liepāja, round two of the FIA European Rally Championship, got underway. After completing 88.17 stage kilometres, last year’s rally winner Oliver Solberg is leading, followed by Mads Østberg and Alexey Lukyanuk. Meanwhile, Mārtiņš Sesks, the fastest of Latvian drivers on day one, is leading the ERC3 class. The event will conclude on Sunday, with six more stages taking place in the Liepāja region.

Two-time Rally Liepāja winner Nikolay Gryazin returns with a victory in the qualifying stage Welcome to Latvia
Today, Rally Liepāja, round two of the 2020 FIA European Rally Championship, began with the qualifying stage Welcome to Latvia. Nikolay Gryazin set the quickest time through the 4.61 km long special stage, followed by Miko Marczyk and Oliver Solberg. Based on the results of the qualifying stage, the top 15 crews will choose their starting positions for Saturday’s stages in Talsi region. Day one of the event will conclude with a drivers parade on the streets of Liepāja, beginning at 21:15.

Sesks, Nitišs, Igaveņš: 3 out of 48
Latvia is one of just six countries that will have the honour of hosting a round of FIA European Rally Championship this year. Kurzeme based event will host some of motorsports’ brightest stars from all over the continent, with 20 abroad countries represented. However, it is three Latvian drivers who know the Talsi and Liepāja region stages better than everyone else, and they will now see if this advantage can help them against the fastest European crews.

Rally Liepāja competitors set to drive through parade around Rally city Liepāja
On August 14, Friday evening at 21:00, citizens and guests of Liepāja city are invited to take part in a competitors’ parade of Rally Liepāja, round 2 of the FIA European Rally Championship. Route of the parade will start at Liepāja Olympic Centre, and will include notable locations around Liepāja – Tram bridge, concert-hall Great Amber, Liepaja Port Promenade, Pilot tower, Peter Market, Jānis Čakste Square, Liepāja Seaside Park, and Kūrmājas Prospect before finishing at Jaunliepāja’s Anna Market, where the service park is located. All competitors of Rally Liepāja are invited to take part in this 8,00 km long parade, and the parade is envisioned to last about 30 minutes from start to finish.

Youngtimer Rally Liepāja: a rally of precision
There will be 18 crews competing for the crown of being the most precise when Youngtimer Rally Liepaja starts on Saturday. Competitors will be divided into two categories – Historic and Youngtimer, and will compete on mixed set of stages – open and closed. In total, 179,82 km to be covered to reach the finish.

Rally Liepāja spectators’ guide published, stage locations around talsi and liepāja revealed
Rally Liepāja spectators’ guide has been published today, and rally fans can now finalize planning of their trip to Round 2 of the FIA European Rally Championship. There are four stages planned in Talsi region, with six more happening near Liepāja – in Durbe, Aizpute, Grobiņa, and Priekule. For more comfortable experience, 12 spectators’ areas have been prepared allowing to watch wide range of rally action – from slow to fast corners, as well as jumps.

He won Rally Liepāja twice. Then took a break. But now he is back – though, with a new co-driver, different car and team. Champions and previous winners enrich Rally Liepāja entry list
Registration for Rally Liepāja, round two of the 2020 FIA European Championship has concluded. In total, 48 crews have registered for the event, with numerous well-known international drivers deciding to take part in the Latvian round, including past winners of Rally Liepāja – Oliver Solberg, Nikolay Gryazin, and Craig Breen. They will be joined by the 2018 ERC champion Alexey Lukyanuk and Citroën Racing factory driver with loads of WRC experience, Mads Østberg.

Rally Liepāja amidst the covid-19 pandemic: limited number of spectators, no mass gatherings
Following directions of the Latvian Cabinet of Ministers, as well as the regulations on hosting competitive events outdoors, this year the number of spectators allowed for Rally Liepāja will be limited. To avoid the formation of crowds and ensure social distancing, a few other changes will be made, such as the cancellation of the opening ceremony and closing the service park to spectators.

FIA European Rally championship broadcasts in Latvia return to TV6
Due to the impact of Covid-19, the start of FIA European Rally Championship season has been postponed, but, with the global situation stabilizing, we have witnessed the return of FIA ERC – Rally Roma di Capitale taking place from July 24 to 26, with the first broadcast on TV6 scheduled for July 31.

The Latvian rally team Sports Racing Technologies signs the talented Polish driver Mikołaj Marczyk

Rally Liepāja postponed to August 14-16
In response to a pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus and the subsequent restrictions are enforced in Latvia and Europe, considering public health of our competitors, spectators, and personnel, running of Rally Liepāja, has been rescheduled to August 14-16. Latvian round of the 2020 FIA European Rally Championship was initially scheduled for May 29-31, then moved to July 10-12, but running of Rally Liepāja is now postponed to mid-August.

Rally Liepāja rescheduled to July 10-12
Running of Rally Liepāja, round of the 2020 FIA European Rally Championship, has been rescheduled from May 29-31 to July 10-12. The changes are made in response to a pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus and the subsequent restrictions and recommendations for public health are enforced in Latvia and globally. Already half of the events included in the European Championship has changed its running dates due to global events – including rallies in Portugal, Spain, and Cyprus.

Rally Liepāja gets postponed
Considering global pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus, running of the 2020 Rally Liepāja, which has been planned for May 29-31, has been postponed indefinitely. Latvian round of the FIA European Rally Championship is the third event to be postponed due to global pandemic – following the events in Portugal and Spain that have been moved to September and December respectively.

Bruno Magalhães: „Each round of FIAERC is completely different!”
Bruno Magalhães is a recognizable name to all FIA European Rally Championship fans. The Portuguese driver has shown that he is among the fastest and most consistent drivers, finishing the championship in second place in 2017, and following that up with a third place overall in 2018. Last year, Bruno focused on the national championship, but that has not quelled his hunger for victories. Brynildsen: “I hope to be doing the champagne on the top of the podium!”
Eyvind Brynildsen is one of the most talented Norwegian rally drivers. His World Rally Championship debut was all the way back in 2006, when he was just 18 years old. Since then, Eyvind has improved significantly, and will look to showcase those skills in this year’s FIA European Rally Championship, including a visit to the “birthplace of wind” in Liepāja. Dennis Rådström: “We are ready to fight for the title!”
Dennis Rådström, the talented 25 year-old Swedish rally driver, will be competing in the ERC3 Junior category of the FIA European Rally Championship this year. Some rally fans will recognize him as a competitor to Mārtiņš Sesks in the 2019 Junior WRC, where, despite his young age, Radstrom has already spent three full seasons.

Rally Liepāja – the only rally in Latvia this year
Because of the uncharacteristically warm winter months, which were the cause of cancellation for the two Latvian Rally Championship rounds, Rally Alūksne and Rally Sarma, the only national championship round taking place in Latvia will be the FIA European Rally Championship round Rally Liepāja, taking place from May 29 to 31, with the route going from Talsi to Liepāja.
