Rally-sprint "Kalnamuiža 2014" – the first event of Lithuanian rally-sprint championship
The beginning of summer rally season with the rally-sprint „Kalnamuiža” has become a tradition for several years in Latvia, and this year, as well, on the 9th and 10th of May, in the competition taking place in Sieksate region of Skrunda area, sportsman will compete for the honour of the fastest driver.
This year the competition will be special, because rally-sprint “Kalnamuiža 2014” will be the 3rd event of Latvian rally-sprint championship, as well as the 1st event of Lithuanian rally-sprint championship. This rally-sprint will also be a great chance for the competitors to do training before the Champion’s rally in Talsi, taking place one week later, on 17th and 18th of May.
“Rally-sprint is planned very compact – competitors will do the reconnaissance in the morning, competition will start in the afternoon, but already in the evening the prize giving ceremony will take place,” says the director of rally-sprint “Kalnamuiža 2014” Aigars Bite. “Competing will be very interesting and fierce, because it will be Latvian and Lithuanian rally-sprint event at the same time.”
The route will wind through Skrunda, Aizpute and Vaiņode region roads, and during the competition sportsmen will have to perform approximately 150 kilometers, 45 kilometers of which will take place on seven special stages.
Competition will start on 10th of May at 13:00 in Piena Muiža – Berghof, Skrunda area, Sieksate region, finish is intended at 17:00. Test special stage will take place one day before, on 9th of May, from 16:00 until 19:00.
In the 1st event of Latvian rally-sprint championship “Alūksne 2014”, victory was taken by Jānis Vorobjovs/Andris Mālnieks ("Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X"), whereas in the competition for two wheel drive cars Emīls Blūms/Reinis Vilsons ("Honda Civic Type R") were the fastest. The 2nd event of the championship “Sarma 2014” was cancelled due to the bad weather conditions.
Rally-sprint “Kalnamuiža 2014” is organized by association “B&K Rallijs” in cooperation with association “Liepājas Rallija Komanda”. Organizers of the competition express gratitude to Aizpute, Skrunda and Vaiņode regions, in whose territory rally-sprint stages will take place.
