Timing of Rally Talsi changed, event will be held on 18th and 19th May
Timing of the Rally Talsi that for five years already is known as the Rally of Champions has been changed to the traditional holiday format. Despite the previously given information the Rally Talsi will start on Saturday, 18th May, and will conclude on Sunday, 19th May, with the Awarding Ceremony by the Talsi Culture House.
The provisional programme of the Rally Talsi envisages a race with the total distance of more than 100km, during which sportsmen will have to cover 12 special stages — both known and new, but as equally challenging. After a one-year break the Rally programme once more will include the super special city stage that is so popular among spectators, and this year it will lead past the lake Talsi. The first Rally day will be especially satiated, when the spectators will be able to see all six special stages of the day. Likewise RA Motosport will strive to continue the tradition of the Rally of Champions in the framework of which the current N4 group champions from several countries will compete for the Champions’ Challenge Cup.
Acceptance of participants’ applications has already started, and it will continue until 10th May. Together with the acceptance of the applications also the special provisions about the Forbidden Area have become effective. The Forbidden Area is a territory where presence of the Rally Talsi participants until the Rally is allowed only with a prior consent from the Rally organizers — the association “RA Motosport”. We would like to remind that this is a common and necessary practice in rally organization in order to ensure equal sportive footing both for local and foreign sportsmen.
“Winter has not cringed away yet, however we feel spring in the office,” preparation for the Rally Talsi is commented upon by its organizer Raimonds Strokšs. “I am very glad that we have received the first applications from the participants, and this allows us to think that the Rally Talsi is an awaited event in the motorsports calendar. We have invited several N4 group champions to participate in the Rally to ensure that also this year fight for the Champions’ Cup is especially fierce. I am satisfied that basing on the spectators’ request we have managed to change the Rally timing and will return to the tradition “Saturday-Sunday” format.
“These two rally days show the Talsi County from different viewpoint and give possibility both to Latvian and foreign sportsmen to show their skills and professionalism in some of the most interesting, peculiar and fastest special stages in Latvia with varied road coverage. This sportive and exciting race is the most significant event in our neighbourhood that opens the summer tourism season and awakens both entrepreneurs and local inhabitants to properly welcome closer and further guests,” the approaching rally event is commented by the Chairperson of the Talsi County Council Daiga Feldmane.
We would like to remind that the Rally Talsi will be the 4th round of the Latvian Rally Championship (LRC) and the first rally event with tires without studs. The LRC calendar envisages that after the Rally Talsi the Championship will go to the away-tour in Lithuania and Estonia and return in Latvia at the very end of the summer, when at the end of August and September the two decisive rounds of the Championship will be held.
